Letting Jared Butler walk after getting him on the cheap is mystifying, especially in the wake of the equally mystifying Eric Gordon opt-out-re-sign maneuver, not to mention the decision to use a roster spot on an assistant coach. The only explanation is that, like the Isaiah Joe blunder, it was demanded by Josh Harris, who is obsessed with avoiding a dollar of luxury tax (and having the opportunity to rake from the tax pool) but can nevertheless afford to buy one of the most valuable assets in the entire entertainment industry, an NFL franchise.
With PG out for ~6 months after just getting knee surgery the other day, not only is this off-season over, the season is over. Even if he and Joel finally see the floor in 2026, they'll only have played a handful of times together before the end of the year. What a waste of roster $$$. Expectations could not be lower so at least the team will beat expectations.
The odds of either Whitmore or Huff being better NBA players than Watford or Walker are pretty slight imo. Why is trading for players more creative/better than signing them on 2-ways or vet mins? Both are taking advantage of an asset undervalued by the market
Yeah I think you are right to point out that watford/walker are along the lines of players im talking about here but would just say that I would have liked to see more swings and ideally bigger swings, not only this year but in years past
A few recent examples: Obi Toppin was traded for 2 second round picks 2 summers ago. Simone Fontecchio went for 1 second rounder in 2024. Toumani Camara was a throw-in for Portland in the Ayton/Nurkic trade. All of those guys you could have said at the time that they have slim odds of turning into valuable NBA players. But if you take a bunch of chances, over time you'll have some hits, and the Sixers very rarely take these types of chances

TBF to Morey, all decisions are obvious after we see how they actually play out IRL.

None of this is facts.
