Yes You Should be Watching March Madness & Here's 5 Sixers Reasons Why
Zo's guide to fringey NCAA prospects we should be acquainting ourselves with this weekend.
The Sixers, by some miraculous and also dumb luck, could find themselves with a top five pick in a few months (Lottery Party!!!) — but equally importantly, there’s got to be some considerations made for how to add to this team’s depth in the form of younger, more cost-controlled help. Here’s five of my guys who should be floating around your late-first/top-of-second-round radar, and who are worth tuning into the Madness to catch.
Jeremiah Fears (Oklahoma)
Talk about a walking bucket. Kid does everything, and makes it look super-smooth too. He’ll play himself into the top 10 — top five might be too rich, but if Daryl Morey swindles a mid-first from someone, I would absolutely give him a second and third look.
RJ Davis (North Carolina)
Had a rough super senior year thanks to his safety valve, Armando Bacot graduating — but still a name to watch, if Daryl can sneak in a few mid second-rounders. He’s seen his efficiency drop this year, but a nice guy to have come off the bench if you need a change of pace, or someone to hit three straight from deep to ignite things.
Tahaad Pettiford (Auburn)
If this were any other draft he’d go top 10 easily. I probably like him more than others, but he’s shown real flashes during year one at Auburn, and at times has not only run the show on offense but shouldered the load. He’s a guy where a strong tournament performance could help his stock tremendously.
Alex Condon (Florida)
A big fella, who is ironically one of the biggest reasons that the guard-heavy Gators are the odds-on favorites to cut down the nets. Can step out to the perimeter and take a three, crash the boards or stay down low and bang. I expect Florida to be around for the next few rounds, so we should all get a great look at the Aussie.
Jase Richardson (Michigan State)
Process legend, Jason Richardson’s son — yes, son. Didn’t even get to play until the latter part of the season, and turned himself into Tom Izzo’s best player by far. He may decide to run it back in East Lansing for a sophomore campaign, but if he takes the Spartans to the promised land, it may be hard for him not to head for the league.
The fact that you didn’t put Derik Queen on the list tells me you aren’t very aware. He’s going top 10 after this tourney run.
Would you please add the height, weight, age and position of these players? That will save some time for me and, I imagine, a bunch of other readers. A couple of basic stats would be nice too. Thanks!
