The Week That Was in Ricky and Former Rookies of the Year Becoming Amateur Boxers
Zo with the weekend dish on championship favorites OKC and the unlikely second career of MCW.
Team Ricky Catch Up
Believe it or Not, there exists a team — multiple in my opinion — worse off than the Sixers. That discussion and book time with one of my guys, Jack Fritz, from Spike and Mike.
Then, later in the week, Mike eats a sandwich for a whole pod, while the guys dig into playoff Tobias (still the same Tobias) and the recent Athletic player survey — which is mostly good, except I personally would have voted Trae Young most overrated.
This was so good from AU. I hate not caring much about the playoffs and I 95% blame the Sixers for it too so I get it.
Sixers around the League
Sixers vs Knicks preseason in Abu Dahbi. Actually very cool and I absolutely expect the weirdest injury. At least one.
Not stealing Spike & Mike’s thunder, just not done talking about MCW being an amateur boxer.
Sixers Reddit wonders if the Embiid era really did include everything that could have gone wrong, going wrong. Personally, I split it right down the middle — with bad asset management on one side and bad luck on the other, and certainly some culpability on Joel himself. It certainly wasn’t all bad but surely not as good as we hoped.
My 5: Reasons OKC will win the Chip, beating the Celtics in six
Of all the contenders, they look the most unstoppable when playing their best.
They rarely have an off night.
They have the league MVP. (No it’s not Jokic, please stop it. He’s awesome but come on. This isn’t Jokic fatigue either.)
They have the best coach (Mark Daigneault is superb smh).
They maximize the hell out of all their guys’ talents.
