The Week in Corner 3 & Farewell to the King (Maybe)
Zo also checks in on our old friends Jimmy and James (no relation).
The Team Ricky Rundown
This year’s Knicks are a playoff Sixers hodgepodge. I was trying my hardest to define them and AU did it so easily. It all comes back to Process
Prompted by a listener, the guys discuss Spike’s Embiid turn and JJ’s disgusting playoff coaching as well as playoff Jimmy and James (oh geez 🙁)
Another great listener question gets answered: Would you trade it all, all of this, for a Sixers title? (Personally yes, I would need the caveat that I’d still somehow be very cool with my fellow Team Ricky members, even if it wouldn’t be because of Team Ricky, but yes, I would.)
Sixers are staring right down the barrel of constructing a team with a below 6 '4 backcourt — so MOC beats the yearly drum about needing size, and probably lots of it.
Sixers (Past and Present) Around the League
Heat players and Erik Spoelstra essentially agree that Jimmy saga took a lot out of everybody, classic tune.
Playing all the hits! The NBA world is flabbergasted at how bad playoff Harden has been recently. (Before last night’s Game Six, anyway.)
Mock Draft! This one has Daryl Morey maximizing the supporting cast with Duke’s Kon Knueppel which to me like, ok cool but as high lottery ehhh.
Sixers Reddit gem on trading for Giannis. Personally I don’t think the Sixers have enough and I think Giannis ironically says no anyway.
Five to Go
OKC and Cleveland look like they’re on a collision course, especially if Boston can’t stay healthy.
Pistons are going to be such a pain in the ass for the next 4 or 5.
KD will definitely give the Suns a list this summer. It will be interesting to see if the Sixers make it. Not assuming mutual interest, but Daryl always pokes and prods when applicable.
So many teams running with two bigs now, or at least one big and one smaller big, and I’m all for it.
Trading five, FIVE first round picks for Mikal Bridges will hamstring the Knicks more than anything they do moving forward. Such an egregious move they didn’t have to do.
