The Sixers Beat the Knicks by Running the Same Play Over and Over Again
Jalen Brunson YOU ARE getting switch-hunted by the Philadelphia 76ers' offense.
Game 3 is going to be remembered for a lot of different reasons.
If you’re a Knicks fan, you’ll remember it as an atrocity, a crime against basketball that Joel Embiid wasn’t ejected from the game after grabbing Mitchell Robinson’s legs mid-air.
If you’re a Sixers fan, it was justice for the crime committed against your own team in Game 2, and the best playoff game of Embiid’s entire career, as the reigning MVP dropped 50 points and nailed five second half threes in what felt like an out-of-body experience.
But there is one thing that needs to get talked about more — the third quarter, and the plan that Nick Nurse and the Sixers came up with. They put a giant red X on Jalen Brunson’s back, and hunted him relentlessly, taking advantage of his poor defense by running the same play over and over again.
Here’s my video breakdown on Game 3 of Sixers-Knicks:
Daniel Olinger is a writer for the Rights To Ricky Sanchez, and author of “The Danny” column, even though he refuses to be called that in person. He can be followed on X @dan_olinger.
“The Danny” is brought to you by the Official Realtor Of The Process, Adam Ksebe.
I’ve found this series fascinating as both Maxey and Brunson are hunting each other on the offensive end.
