Shockers, No-Brainers and Everything Else in This First Week of Free Agency
Happy 4th of July from Zo and the Ricky.
Team Ricky Rundown
Farewell Yabu :( and the guys dish about Bron and KD dishing about small guards.
Justin Edwards remains a Sixer (Important to have at least one catholic league/public league guy), and other viable free agent options.
In a league where you need AT LEAST three guards to win, having four of them to mix and match doesn’t sound too bad.
This list has dwindled by two, but some solid PF names and honestly guys who wouldn’t be half bad in this rotation.
Sixers Around the League
A great video lesson on newest Sixer, Trendon Watford: a great passer, hard worker and most importantly close friends with Tyrese Maxey.
VJ continues to turn heads with his play style and athleticism, love summertime.
Apparently, the Sixers have been trying all week, let’s say working on all week, a deal to get Andre Drummond out of here. Makes total sense really. Great guy, loves the city, but man, his production just fell off a cliff.
This guy means call *US crazy, because I’m damn sure of the thought that Adem Bona can ball. Very excited to see what he turns into in year two.
5 for the Road!
I feel like no one (nationally) and maybe even locally knows how to take the Sixers. Even folks who are excited seem to be leaning more toward accepting that they won’t be seeing much of Joel Embiid next year. But honestly who the fuck really knows?
Youth movements are winning everything man. Not saying you’ll strike gold with every single pick/signing, but eventually you need to infuse younger, more athletic and more cost-controlled talent and see what you can put together.
Seeing teams make minor moves to feed into big ones or a bunch of medium ones that make total sense (Hawks, Nuggets) really makes you wish Morey and co used just a tiny bit more discretion with valuable assets.
On the other hand we’re not the Bulls so….
Very hype two weeks the Rockets have had. Health is a very big if, especially with an aging star — but going for it and also retaining 85% of your young nucleus is impressive and well done.
