Predicting the Top of the Year for the New Look (Should Have Been the Normal Look) Sixers
Zostradamus gives us his January Sixers predictions.
Don’t look now but the Sixers, as they embark on the trademark Disney on Ice road swing, are playing competent ball and literally a half game out of the play-in. I took a stab at predicting what the first month of the New Year will bring for Yabu and the boys, in what’s shaping up to be the most important stretch of the season so far for the squad.
(Ed. note: Zo sent this to me before the Kings game but I’m only posting it after — whoops — so only he and I will ever know whether his prediction for that game was. — AU.)
Jan 2nd - at GSW (Loss)
Facing Chef Curry is a task for any full-strength team — add to that the team already being shorthanded (and perhaps needing to find some extra rest for a couple guys on the second half of a back-to-back) and things could get ugly quick.
Jan 4th - at BKN (Win)
The Nets stink, fairly simple.
Jan 6th - PHX (Win)
Finally back home against a team ready to quit and/or blow it all up.
Jan 8th - WSH (Win)
Will be much harder than it needs to be, because the Wizards stink, but in a try-hard, just-not-talented-enough way.
Jan 10th - NOP (Win)
Mad Max masterclass.
Jan 12th - at ORL (Win)
Maybe the toughest game of this stretch but these guys have been battling some big injuries and this just may be the right time to get them.
Jan 14th - OKC (Loss)
It’s Pickleball night so nothing good will come of it.
Jan 15th - NYK (Win)
Revenge.
Jan 18th - at IND (Win)
Rese vs Rese is always fun but I like ours to shine bigger in this one
Jan 19th - at MIL (Loss)
A dreaded second half of a back-to-back, which will more than likely end with conceding a loss to goddamn Doc Rivers.
Jan 21st - at DEN (Win)
Jo vs Joker part 100. I like us this time around.
Jan 24th - CLE (Win)
More revenge.
Jan 25th - at CHI (Loss)
Any second leg of a back to back is a scheduled L for me.
Jan 28th - LAL (Win)
Sorry Bron.
Jan 29th - SAC (Win)
Normally a scheduled loss but by this point the Kings really suck and await the trade deadline
Jan 31st - DEN (Win)
Why the hell not, let’s send a message here.
16 Games, 11 wins, 5 losses, with a nice little five-game win streak built in. Very achievable, almost needed to keep digging out this hole — but slow-and-steady wins the race, so pony up!
