My Sixers Trade Deadline Review and Farewell to My Darling KJ
Zo sizes up the new names and dearly departed from this busy Sixers week.
INCOMING
Quentin Grimes
Love Q’s game. Not so crazy that he couldn’t stick with the Knicks and I think the Mavs have more of his prototype already. He’ll fit in just fine here. Career 38% from three and having a very decent final year of his rookie contract. His biggest obstacle will be managing to stay healthy and on the court (again, will fit in great here).
Jared Butler
My 2021 National Championship GOAT. A really fun player who started to semi put it together this season. He’s still on a two-way contract so eventually he’ll need to be fully converted (Pete Nance we literally hadrdly knew ye) which I think at this stage of the season should be a no-brainer.
Chuma Okeke
Second most important player on this list, SEC guy, career reclamation starts NOW.
A bevy of 2nd round picks
Sure. Needed to restock/reload to keep taking stabs at young affordable talent anyway.
OUTGOING
Caleb Martin
Had such very high hopes for what his fit would be and for eventually watching him go full fuck you mode in the playoffs against the Knicks or Heat — but alas, at least we had that one month where he went scorched earth, then unfortunately followed it up with injury after injury.
KJ Martin
This one really sucked and to me was a massive misuse of assets. A salary dump for a guy you intentionally signed to a trade-friendly contract last summer. In the words of his dad, Kenyon, I just want to see the dude go somewhere and ball.
Reggie Jackson
Ironically enough became an extremely important cog and I apologize for typing that on February 6, 2025.
