It really is so, so dumb, but because of all the past heartbreaks, I knew winning yesterday would fundamentally change a part of me. How big a part, I don’t know, because I’m not cynical in all parts of my life because of the Process era, but 2023 (and last season, too, considering how well positioned it felt like we were) did demonstrably change my lifelong relationship with pro sports. It feels pretty nice to have a sense of satisfaction from that now, after feeling like I’d buried that part of myself a few years ago!
