The study needs to break down Embiid and George impacts separately… eye test says they need PG but for Joel, a plus-minus analysis isn’t really gonna tell the story because Embiid’s offensive production will obscure his getting hammered on defense, rebounding and sloppy turnovers.

I tend to rely more on net rating, which has a stronger historical signal, than raw +/-, but either way those kinds of miscues on defense, rebounding, and ball security are all incorporated into the number, not hidden by it. Those miscues have an impact on how effectively a team scores and how effectively they are scored against. So sure, Embiid could be even more productive if he limited those issues, but if he's able to score enough to overcome them, that still makes him a net positive overall.
