Dave Hause (The Loved Ones) on The Sing Us Home Festival, Songwriting, Springsteen and More
A music festival for Philly.
I don’t know how many Ricky people know, but for the first 15 years of my career I worked in rock and alternative radio in Philly and Chicago. I was lucky enough to work for two legendary radio stations, 94WYSP in Philadelphia and Q101 in Chicago.
One of the things I treasure most was working with Tommy Conwell on the 94WYSP show Loud and Local. I later got to host that show.
One of the bands I took to most during that time was the Philly punk band, The Loved Ones, fronted by Dave Hause. Not to put the music in a box, but if you enjoy Gaslight Anthem, Hot Water Music, Rise Against or Alkaline Trio, you’d like it. I got to know Dave through Loud and Local.
Dave started a music festival in Philly last year called Sing Us Home, and it’s back this year.
Dave (Loved Ones, Dave Hause and The Mermaid) joins the podcast to talk about his Sing Us Home Music Festival (May 3-5, Philadelphia), songwriting, the music business, the connection between punk and Springsteen, and his relationship with his brother Tim.
You can learn more about the festival which includes Dave, The Loved Ones, Laura Jane Grace, the Jayhawks and more at https://singushomefestival.com/
