Andrew Unterberger Named Editor In Chief of Rights To Ricky Sanchez
Horrible Twitter handle, excellent writer.
On one of our podcasts with Daryl Morey, he seemed perplexed that we had a whole gang of people working on different parts of the podcast. Having as talented crew as we have is a luxury and an honor, and of course, gratuitous.
The first non-Spike-or-Mike person to be a member of the Ricky is Andrew Unterberger, who began writing his weekly column for us in 2018.
Today, we elevate the great AU and his shitty X handle to Editor In Chief of the Rights To Ricky Sanchez website. Now when that dumb fuck with the New York Times Typos X account complains about something, it will be AU’s fault and not mine.
Since he began with us, AU has singularly exemplified what it is to be part of the Ricky community. I often say he is the truest member of the Ricky, because he is able to express what it’s like to be a Mike guy, a Spike guy, and whatever it is in between. He is talented, kind, hard working, and an incredible asset to our group. He is full of good ideas, good vibes, and the worst internet and technical expertise in the game. I do love him.
While our writers, MOC, The Danny, and Alonzo are all incredibly talented, I do not think any writer in the history of sports has better expressed what it means to be a fan of a team at a certain time than AU has during The Process Era (TM). His writing has occasionally infuriated me, but largely because he captures what it means to be one of us better than anybody else could, even when he's very wrong.
I am confident that AU would not only be wherever we needed him, whenever we needed him, but he would do the same for anyone in our community.
Congrats, AU. I stand firmly, off your gold.
