The Opening Tip
Hello & Happy Almost Weekend - It's the Corner Three!

Oh Yeah, The Sixers
Fun While it Lasted
Houston Harden reared his head, the MVP officially got his MVP, talk about easy street. Then BANG, 6/30 from 3 and a 34 point rout. If you told me they'd come back home 1-1 I would have said mission accomplished, this one was just weird and annoying and luckily the team has no time to dwell because they're back it for Game 3 Friday in South Philly.

Spike's Corner... It Did Mean Something
Every week, Spike or Mike will write soemthing for the Corner Three Newsletter. Now, it's true, Mike hasn't written something in weeks, but in fairness, he's been banned. He will return next week. For now, Spike writes about the MVP.
All you needed to watch was the 91 second (!!) video of Joel Embiid learning that he's won the MVP, then crying, and his teammates going nuts, to take back anything you may have thought about the MVP maybe not being that important.
Every fight you had with some rando online from Denver about the value of defense, was worth it. Every tweet to JJ Redick that he's a bad teammate for not voting for Joel Embiid for MVP, worth it. Non-violent and totally in jest threats to voters about putting their name on a t-shirt with less than kind verbiage, also worth it. Voter intimidation was completely reasonable in this situation.
Every minute of toxic discourse was worth it, because it was worth it to Joel. Even though on several occasions he straight up lied about that. We knew to ignore him, because he's basically like a super talented, super rich, super tall one of us. We do the same thing when we think there's a chance we'll get our hearts broken. "You know what, I'm expecting they'll lose, so honestly I'm not even watching the Sixers this year in the playoffs." Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
Also, it matters whether they lose to the Celtics or not. It matters even if he never gets into the second round in his career. It is part of SIxers history if he eventually demands a trade to the Knicks in year two of the James Harden max contract when they have to roll James out on to the court, still in his ridiculous pregame outfit, still smelling like booze from his third trip to Vegas to slap his friend in the face that he's taken in the first month of the season.
I don't mean to say that we're a town of losers, but let's not act like we don't hold our "teams that didn't quite finish the job" pretty close to our hearts. The Sixers lost 4-1 to the Lakers, but if you ask us, the only two moments that season were the stepover and Iverson winning his MVP. The 1993 Phillies lost in one of the most crushing ways possible, were all on steroids and that was probably the least severe drug they were taking, and they're heroes. Hell, something must have happened with the Flyers one time. They came back from 3-0 or something once right? We can remember the Embiid MVP fondly even if it doesn't wind up in the same bucket as a trophy.
The MVP basically means "this was the best player in the NBA this year," and Joel Embiid, who missed his first two years with broken feet, who broke his face on his teammate's shoulder, who was never going to play and was 300 pounds because he was addicted to Shirley Temples, just won that award. It's unbelievable and fucking awesome, and I don't care what anyone says. When they announced his name, and I saw him joyous with his face in his hands, I teared up with real joy and thought, "this was all worth it."
ONLY A FEW LEFT... BBALL AND CJ
Abbie designed these super soft, incredibly funny, strikingly odd t-shirts for Live Ricky V. They are dedicated to our unsung heroes (that are honestly pretty sung), BBall Paul and CJ. Just a few left, and you can get them from our friends at Kinetic. They will never be printed again.
Peace, Love and Process
Closing em out in 6 at home. Heads High
