The Opening Tip
Hello and Happy Thursday. It's the Corner Three!
6 More Weeks of Winter, but only 7 more days till the trade deadline!
Oh yes, there's a new partner of the Ricky, and it's from Delco. Welcome to the awesome Briggs Auction!
Going to keep this short and sweet! Briggs has been around for four generations, and does tons, and tons, and tons of estate auctions. If you're in the market for furniture or home furnishings and sick of being told that the supply chain will mean a 7 month wait, Briggs Auction. If you just love browsing cool shit, Briggs Auction. Everything starts at $1 and there are auctions almost weekly. Truly an awesome place, run by great people, and home of our guy Stephen (whose last name is not Briggs), who is a Ricky guy. There's even an app to bid (you can also do web), just search for the Briggs Auction app.
Check out a short video with Spike and Stephen, and Spike screwing up his name like an asshole. Stephen also talks about the auction they did for Pat Croce.
To celebrate the new partnership, we'll be doing a weirdo Ricky giveaway twice a month. All you need to do is go here and enter your email address and you're registered FOREVER. The first one is a brand new Alien Iverson doll from Iverson's retirement night, and a Ricky Sanchez rookie card.
Oh Yeah, The Sixers
What a week to be a 21 year old fearless off guard.
Let's do some questions!
1. Let's hear it, is Maxey untouchable?
My short answer is depends. Long answer, I love him, coaches and his teammates obviously love him but I don't think he'd keep Sixers front office braintrust from getting one of their top targets, and same goes for Matisse while we're at it. I'd have to think long and hard about it in say, a Harden or Dame deal, and would really be situational about it regarding a Beal package. Personally, I don't think there's a thing as untouchable on this team, aside from Joel Embiid. There's just too many holes to plug and too much uncertainty around how many more MVP-like years the big fella's knees will allow him to have.
2. Does B*n get traded by or before next Thursday?
This is going to suck so bad but I'm leaning toward no, and I HATE that I'm saying that but I really don't see/haven't read anything anywhere that makes me think any team that's been labeled as a serious bidder has anything close to the Sixers asking price. This is a day to day league and things change by the minute but I'm not at all optimistic.
3. Do you think that means the Sixers will be pretty quiet on deadline day?
Certainly not. I think they'll take calls on everyone not named Embiid and they'll call about alot of players elsewhere so I don't picture a sitting on our hands scenario but I'm beginning to brace myself for THE trade not to happen.
Our Guys
Tyrese Maxey is incredible and really, in his own way, unlike anything we've ever had before.
You know about the Simmons stuff, but Mike O'Connor has 4 pressing questions for the rest of the Sixers and the trade deadline.
Charity Spotlight
I was incredibly moved by the story of Ariq Barrett, chef, dad, and founder of Black Kidz can cook and Kidz Meals on Wheels. Chef Ariq's story is one of preservation, determination and what happens when you treat people like human beings and appeal to the humanistic side. I highly encourage everyone to read up on his incredible story and programs below and how we can help him continue to provide a service that our kids desperately need.
