The Opening Tip
Hello and Happy New Year! It's the first Corner Three of 2022!
This is the year I get to root for a perfectly normal basketball team, I can feel it. (Probably not)
Mike Is Back, Stunning Color Star Deep Dive #2
Color Star Technology, the Chinese (?) Metaverse (??) company that the Sixers partnered with, that used to be a conrete company (???) is still at it. So we can't let it go.
We had JR Mailey, Director Of Investigations for The Sentry, do a deep dive on the company, their very odd history, and investors. This one is a do not miss pod, and worth it to check out the YouTube version to see Mike's face during the entire thing.
The Sentry is a non-profit organization founded by George Clooney and John Prendergast, that follows the dirty money connected to African war criminals and transnational war profiteers and seeks to shut those benefiting from violence out of the international financial system.
Oh Yeah, The Sixers
Thoughts!
The team is...kind of just existing right now and the vibes remain off, pretty much been off all year. It's really tough to explain the feeling. They're winning/have won, a few consecutive games but haven't looked the greatest but Joel Embiid won player of the year for December because he's been absolutely fucking lightning post return from Covid but that's pretty much the only bright spot (stop me if you heard that before) and Doc hit the protocols list for 2 games.
Dan Burke was awesome and the team played hard for him and everyone (maybe not everyone, but 90% of us) are fed up with Tobias but we can't boo because thats immoral and not allowed in Philadelphia and the team's new business partner most likely is just a tax shelter and holy shit what an odd time for this team (again, stop me if you heard that before).
I'm not tracing everything back to 25 but it's so incredibly hard not to think that the players and coaches aren't irritated/bothered by the fact that there's still a gaping hole in the roster and rotation. The clock ticks louder and louder as we get closer to next month's deadline and the noise is only going to pickup as the natives continue to get more restless.
These things are so fucking good. You can only get them from the Stateside website. No carbonation, not to sweet, only 100 calories. Go here to order a 4-pack for $9.99.
