5 Offseason Questions!
1. How much do you buy into the "Ben's not talking to the Sixers" smoke?
I'm about 60/40. I think the relationship is fractured and he certainly probably hasn't returned everyone's happy bday call or text but in the same vein, with the way things are now, he really has nothing left to say to them and vice versa until a trade is completed. Bringing him back or trying to mend fences is one thing but each passing day makes that even more of a task so I'm still leaning toward something happening before training camp.
2. What time is it?
Dame Time, DUH stoopid.
3. How Good did Tyrese Maxey look in his summer league debut?
Way too good for summer league, that's for sure. He looked confident in his movements, was a floor leader and man did that off the dribble three look gorgeous. If things stay relatively put, it will be crucial for Doc Rivers and staff to focus on his development at the lead guard spot.
4. Overall thoughts on the rest of the Summer Sixers?
Jaden Springer looked.....like the youngest player in the draft. Underwhelming at times offensively but showed flashes and put a nice stretch together in the final game. Defensively he certainly showed toughness and a knack for making guys uncomfortable. Given who is coach is, I'm leaning more toward this being a semi-redshirt year if he stays a Sixer. BBall Paul was incredible, he NEEDS to be groomed to atleast challenge for the backup center role in the playoffs and it starts with him being given more meaningful moments during the regular season. Please listen to us, Doc.
5. Prediction for how the rest of roster shakes out heading into training camp?
I sincerely don't know. I mean we can assume for the most part, the crew looks similar aside from some new pieces in Drummond and Springer and Niang but man, until the Ben situation shakes itself out there's still question marks to be checked off.
The Rest From The Best
Georges Niang is going to be really damn important, but don't just take my word for it, Sixers Adam has it all down in his Sixers offseason notebook.
Mike O'Connor, our guy, is drinking the Kool-Aid baby. Checkout his four Summer Sixers thoughts.
Are we even on brand if we're not crushed by summer league losses? Andrew Unterberger with more on the loss that will haunt him forever.
Once again, we run (or walk, or don't even show up). Go here and join early, before we even talk about it on the pod. The goal is to raise $15,000, and if you join the team and raise at least $75, you'll get this year's special team shirt (we'll show you soon). Don't tell anyone yet though.
