Oh Yeah,The SixersÂ
Well it really (not really) all comes down to tonight. A win against the man in the room, James Butler and his Miami Heat, secures the first number 1 seed in 20 damn years for the Sixers and a good 7-8 days rest heading into the playoffs.Â
5 Big Questions
Do you think there's a reasonable explanation for why Doc doesn't use his challenges?
It is super weird and at times extremely maddening, especially in a situation like Tuesday night's game where a challenge of Ben Simmons' 5th personal foul had a really good chance of being overturned, and in the least would have required the refs to take a much closer look. You just hope that whatever the reason, he isn't gun shy in the playoffs when it could very well come down to a sink or swim overturn on a foul or possession.Â
Sixers offense went ice cold in the 4th quarter of Tuesday's loss and Ben Simmons has been given much of that blame. Thoughts?
He had an awesome first three quarters and in the fourth, his playmaking and aggression fell by the waist side along with the shot making of his running mates. I say that to say, we will continue having the same conversation about him that we've always had, or atleast some of ya'll will, I'm sleep.Â
Playoff Mike Scott?
He has struggled supremely but man, Doc just continues to go to that well and I don't see that ending in the playoffs. I imagine those minutes will dwindle, but we should prepare to certainly see him in action at some point throughout.
Who gets your vote for most important non-starter playoff minutes?
Taking the coward route and calling it a tie between Matisse Thybulle and Dwight Howard. Matisse's defense, particularly in a Nets series would be at an all time premium, despite his offensive limitations. In the case of Dwight, I think it's pretty clear he'll be getting some burn, the important aspect of that will be when and how. Doc Rivers will have to be a bit more creative in making sure his lineups are as balanced as possible with playmaking, shooting and defensive prowess.Â
How cool a story is the Knicks being back?
Feel good and cool stories are for regular season, its playoff time so fuck em.Â
The Rest From The Best
Â
It's almost go time. There's quite a bit that needs to happen for the Sixers to be standing tall at the end but our guy Mike O'Connor offers 6 things that could all but ensure a chip for Doc and the guys.Â
Really, truly one at a time and tonight the one is against a close frenemy. Andrew Unterberger with a reminder that it's time to focus our energy on kicking Miami's ass.Â
Julia Michaels! Sly & The Family Stone! Moon Tooth! It's a new episode of the Carl Landry Record Club, where we are hoping to show a little love to some great albums from great artists.
