"Championship or Bust"

The NBA trade deadline has come and gone after what feels like a ridiculous 6 weeks of posturing and rumors and "I love it here and love this team." Guys were moved, guys stayed put, what matters is that everyone had a good time and what the Sixers did or didn't do. 

What I wanted them to do:

-Shore up the back court/Bench rotation
-Decide on a stretch 5 and/or 3 & D guy
-Take a Lowry-sized swing at upping championship chances

What they did:

-Shored up the back court in the form of George Hill, sending Tony Bradley :(, and what will turn out to be four second round picks to OKC and Terrance Ferguson and Vince Poirier to the Knicks

-According to reports at least, attempted a hefty swing at Kyle Lowry, so hefty that they were at one time thought to be "on the one yard line" as tweeted by a Raptors beat writer and mentioned by ESPN's Brian Windhorst (Prison!) as being the team Lowry was prepping to be traded to, but in the end were not comfortable with Toronto's reported asking price of Matisse Thybulle, Tyrese Maxey and 2 future first round picks and stood pat. 

What does it all mean:

My educated guess is the Sixers tried their absolute best to make things work and found themselves feeling very uneasy with putting all of their eggs in the basket of a 35 year-old point guard scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent in a few months. For me, giving it all you got to go get James Harden is believing you can win it all, but turning around to do that for a guy who can freely walk right to Miami or LA after the season is a more calculated risk that I understand not wanting to take. And this is coming from someone who was fully on team go get Kyle!

Trust/Faith in Morey

Come onnnn, lol of course. The larger question for me is how much faith do we have in Doc Rivers to turn this 1 seed into a finals contender? Only time will tell with that. 

Teflon Mike

The Hive survived another trade deadline, just impressive at this point, not even angry. 

Looking Ahead

George Hill is a good player, who fits perfectly next to Ben Simmons and who will really help that second unit and also won't be afraid to chuck the rock every chance he gets. This is still a team with a MVP and DPOY candidate and the very cool Tobias Harris, who watches Snowfall on Wednesday nights just like me.
