Oh Yeah,The Sixers
The Press Conference
Was awesome and I can't believe Morey is ours. Holy shit. It was your regular run of the mill virtual intro but I did think there were some interesting nuggets to pull away. I was very happy to hear Morey go on about building around Joel Embiid and his strengths and things of the such. He mentioned that Houston reporters used to ask him what he would if he had Shaq and he always say he'd give him the ball about 100 times a game. If you recall Doc River's first Sixers press conference he echoed something similar about playing to your team's strengths and how Red Auerbach always told him, "If they can't do it, don't do it", when it comes to knowing your roster and players capabilities.Â
A great sign that (initially) Doc and Morey are atleast saying the right things about working with what they have and putting their guys in the right position to win. System etc. will most likely be more Doc than Morey but I can't help but think an upbeat tempo and strangling defense won't be the official calling card once all said and done.Â
Harden?
Election day Sham bomb told us that the Sixers plan to pursue a James Harden trade, which can be translated as every team in the NBA plans to pursue a James Harden trade. Where there's smoke there's fire so I don't doubt Morey will call, but the Rockets already said once that anything surrounded by Ben Simmons wouldn't be enough and I can't blame them since right now broke boy Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta's only seat-filler is Harden, gotta expect they'd want a wee bit more in that return basket.Â
On the Draft!
Electric in the air, baby. Speaking of, meet Tyrese Haliburton, who SHOULD undoubtedly be way gone by 21 but if he falls or a lottery team wants to jettison their pick for an already established player, he could be worth it if the Doc/EB/Morey trio thinks as much. Tyrese is a long, linky string bean, can guard and has guarded 1-3, can initiate the offense and has no problem taking a spot up 3 when presented with the opportunity. Crashes the boards, disrupts passing lanes, would be fun as hell tearing shit up with Matisse/Shake/Ben ripping and running. He probably won't create all of his shots and will need to bulk up but the tools and athleticism for day 1 usefulness are certainly there.Â

The Rest From The Best
There's a reason that we don't let Spike write that much. I mean he's telling people how to watch TV.
Long before he was even a possibility (or maybe not that long, hmmm), Morey the Godfather sat down for a very important interview with Spike & Mike on the Ricky podcast. Our very own Mike O'Connor went back and deep dived and grabbed some very interesting takeaways that will in one way or another give us a good idea of his philosophy moving forward.  Brought to you by the great Touchstone Electric Fireplaces (code TTP for 15% off), and our official pet foot, and By Nature Slow Cooked with Superfusion Pet Food (use code RTRS20 at Chewy).
I know we ask Joel Embiid to do alot, a WHOLE LOT, so naturally, we're asking him to do more. Andrew Unterberger, has one wish, well one for now, and it's for Daryl Morey to convince Jo to shoot more 3's. Brought to you by Kinetic Skateboarding.
We got 5 hopefully very amazing years of Morey trades and trade speculation, but to wet our whistles, Sixers/Temple Adam was so kind as to give us two potential deals for Chris Paul and Victor Oladipo respectively. Brought to you by Adam Ksebe, the Process Realtor.
