Oh Yeah,The Sixers

Daryl is Home.

I never thought they'd do it. I didn't think they had the balls or the humility to even think about it. However, as we've often said on the pod and in this newsletter, Harris & Blitzer prove once again that they hold the longest view in the room. It's always better to be lucky than good, so kudos to them for waiting one more day to hire a coach and falling ass backward into Doc Rivers and one month later, Daryl Fucking Morey. 

What he means right now to this front office is credibility. Lightens the load for Elton Brand, who gets to remain GM, but also gets to learn under one of the more successful execs the league has ever seen and allows Brand to remain with an ownership group that obviously thinks extremely high of him. 

Morey brings something though that this front office hasn't had in quite sometime. He isn't going to snap his fingers automatically wipe away the wrongs of his predecessors so we should temper our expectations there. However, he is going to leave no stone unturned and work the margins like his life depends on it, man. He's a guy who gave us the Luis Scola's and Patrick Beverley's of the world as well as orchestrated the James Harden & Chris Paul trades respectively. He's never going to shy away from a big swing if it's one to be made because as he so famously put it once, "It's a weapons race in the NBA and you're either in the weapons race or on the sidelines".

In short, if this doesn't work out I'm pivoting away from pro basketball all together and becoming an AAU basketball booster.

On the Draft

Say hello to friend of the newsletter, Kira Lewis Jr. A combo guard from Alabama, Lewis is athletic as hell, not afraid to attack off the dribble and is definitely not scared to shoot the rock. He sometimes could get stuck in shooting streaks and got a little one-track minded on offense but for a team starving for scoring from the guard position I wouldn't mind a little selfishness. I'm not quite sure I like him more than the Anthony's and Terry's of that part of the draft but he would certainly be an interesting piece if the Doc & Morey superfriends pulled the trigger.

Charity Spotlight

WE NEED YOUR HELP. Tuesday night our friend Tina, owner of Buddha Babe had her boutique (which was in the final prep stage before opening) broken into and vandalized. We love her and all the awesome products she makes, especially the masks she has done for us, so we are asking all who is able, to show the power of Team Ricky and help with some of the costs for repair/alarm system and whatever else insurance may not cover.

How much better can Shake Milton get? A question that will be asked considerably in the next 10 weeks or so as we steamroll toward the NBA Draft and Morey and crew take the deep dive into their wants/needs/hopes.
