The Opening Tip
Hello and Happy Thursday, it's the Corner Three!
Alright Doc. You're up. Â

Let's roll!

THIS BOTTLE IS EMPTY!
TIME TO REFILL! Somehow this Stateside 1.75 litre magnum bottle is empty. Get a new one! They've got Philly delivery and pickup at their website, and you can also get MAGNUM at Fine Wine & Spirits and all those spots in Jersey and Delaware.
This Week In The Pod
Did you know you can watch them all on a new Ricky YouTube channel? It's got video versions of all of the pods, plus highlights. You know, if you're into shit like that.
The Sixers are finally doing Front Office interviews? Wow, they got right on that. Mike theorized that they're just looking for an intern, breaking down Doc Rivers quotes, why NBA ratings are so low and an emotional relationship advice on last night's pod.
Spike & Mike go through a list of Doc Rivers pros and cons, what this means for the front office (that is literally still intact), discuss some Ben Simmons fact or fiction and attack a monster of a mailbag.

Hey this is Spike. I put this in after 'Zo was done. We will see if he gets mad at me.
I'm here to tell you we only have two weeks to raise $3000 more for the Providence Animal Center for Bark In The Park 2020 to hit our goal of $10,000. We need to hit our goal. They need us.
You can donate right here. We'd appreciate it. Or you can still join the team right here, and if you raise $50, you get the sweet shirt to the left thanks to LL Pavorsky and Big Barker Dog Beds.
The Covid era has been tough on everyone, but especially non-profits, and especially ones like Providence that raise so much money with events, that they can't do now. So donate if you can, join and run (or walk or lie) and get the shirt. Ok, back to the guy you came here for, Alonzo.
Oh Yeah,The Sixers
The take on Doc:
His intro and his demeanor so far has been exactly what you'd expect. Charming, authoritative. Easy to see why he's so loved. I think he will be great for the organization and more importantly, numbers 21 and 25. With any luck, this team will play faster, pass less and look more like the bullies they claimed to be on the offensive and defensive glass.
That said, Doc isn't a miracle worker and he can only use the pieces that this front office (the one that continues to trip over itself and lie while doing so, was supposed to be evaluated but is still wholly intact, and that is currently on the hook for an albatross of a contract owed to a rapidly aging player who quite literally couldn't have looked more out of place this season), so I say all that to say that it's ok to be excited about Doc but it's also ok to hold off on getting your "2021-22 NBA Champions" tattoo until we see what kind of product he's given to work with.Â
On the draft:
Tyrese Maxey, Tyrese Maxey, Tyrese Maxey, Tyrese Maxey. Kentucky guys have had themselves one hell of a bubble and playoff (Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, Anthony Davis, Devin Booker, Jamal Murray etc). I will not and can not put my name on Tyrese Maxey being the next to join these guys but shit if he isn't laying the groundwork for such a rise. Big shot maker, pesky defender, confident shooter, has a floater!!! and not afraid to get after it on either end.
He would immediately bring some quickness, athleticism and toughness to a team that sorely needs all three at the guard position. Concerns about how real his jumper is (the irony, I know), may have him staring team collaboration right in the eyes at pick 21 on draft night and if he's still there, Doc & Elton should do the right thing.Â

The Rest From The Best
So what Doc are we getting? The always awesome Mike O'Connor has you covered with a Doc Rivers tutorial and what to safely expect from the new man with the plan. Brought to you by the great Touchstone Electric Fireplaces (code TTP for 15% off), and our official pet foot, and By Nature Slow Cooked with Superfusion Pet Food (use code RTRS20 at Chewy).
I think we broke our guy, Andrew Unterberger. At least until draft night when he brings back the optimism we at Team Ricky have come to know and love. This week AU wants to know what was the most painful year for Philly sports of the last decade? Brought to you by Kinetic Skateboarding.
Doc shared a few interesting nuggets at his introductory presser, alot of which naturally centered around Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons and how they had a huge part in his desire to be in Philadelphia. Our little dude, Sixers Adam, touched on that and a few more goodies from Doc's intro.  Brought to you by Adam Ksebe, the Process Realtor.
