The Opening Tip
Hello and Happy Thursday, it's the Corner Three!
Jimmy Butler is on his way to the Eastern Conference Finals after handily beating the team that Sixers were supposedly built to beat. Wild stuff, for sure.
THE ENTIRE FRONT OFFICE IS STILL INTACT.
OUR Rockets are making the Lakers earn it so that's cool.
Let's get going!
Win Some Embiid 1s From UA and The Ricky
There are less than 20 players in the NBA with a signature shoe, and Joel Embiid is now one of them. The Embiid 1s from Under Armour come out on September 18th. We've got an autographed pair from Joel to
give away. They'll be in Joel's size, and signed by him. Just go to this link and tell us in 100 words or less what "the Process" means to you. You have until 9/18 to enter. We'll pick three finalists and let everyone vote.
This Week In The Pod
Spike & Mike enjoy some internal conflict in discussing our Rockets vs KCP's Lakers, discuss the East playoffs and ECF predictions and rehash (we love a good Rehash on team Ricky) a few Sixers mishaps to this point and Chris Paul trade rumors.
Then last night, Mike compared this year's team with the Andrew Bynum years, while Spike explained why all of his Jimmy Butler tweets are gone. They also celebrated the city's decision to give the Penn's Landing spot to... anyone but Josh Harris.
Charity Spotlight
One of the things I promised myself for 2020 was I'd get more into riding a bike and getting around the city that way. One quarantine and move to suburbia later and plans have changed! However, great organizations like Neighborhood Bike Works are around today to help kids in underserved Philadelphia neighborhoods with educational, recreational and career building through bicycling. Read so much more about them and how you can help here.
FOOTBALL WITH STATESIDE
Like it or not, football comes back tonight, and the Eagles play Sunday. Stateside Vodka has got enough vodka for the entire time with the giant, magnum, 1.75 litre bottle. If you want to enjoy it responsibly, you can get it at PA Wine and Spirits, or directly from the Stateside folks for curbside pickup. If you live in the Philly five-county area you can even get it delivered. Make sure you enjoy it very responsibly.
Oh Yeah,The Sixers
On our Rockets:
Hard to believe that Robert Covington, 4th best center in the NBA, was a Sixer just last season. Absurd. Huge shoutout to him and his Rockets teammates who are just daring the Lakers to post them up everytime down the court and running and gunning all night. They play a brand of hoops that doesn't make me question my existence so that's a welcomed change of pace.
On the coaching search:
I'm breaking my rule for a second to let you lovely folks know that the newly free Billy Donovan should not be coach of the Sixers. That's pretty simple. I personally think all signs are still pointing to Ty Lue being on the first thing smoking from Orlando to Camden once the Clippers season is over which would be just great. I'd rather have the guy who "only won because he had Lebron" than the guy who over 5 years had KD, Russ, Chris Paul, at one point or another and who also planted Victor Oladipo in the corner on offense like he was a fucking cactus and hasn't left the first round of the playoffs for 4 years, but I digress because none of this matters as long as the same front office is around. #EVERYBODYGOTTAGO
On the Sixers ownership proposal for a Penn's Landing Palace:
Wednesday afternoon Sixers ownership was informed its proposal for a arena on the Penn's Landing waterfront was rejected, in favor of another set of plans that fit the direction of where the city would like to take that area. We don't need more luxury apartments on the waterfront, but we also don't need an arena complex funded with $885 Million of the public's money so, (again) get fucked, clowns.
The Rest From The Best
Ever on-topic, Mike O'Connor, great guy in the community, has a download of everything you need to know about Ty Lue regardless of where you stand on his potential hire.
You're damn right, we relitigated the Process. Andrew Unterberger got the whole crew together to rank and blurb about the top 50 moments where the Process went wrong.
We know they'll have a new coach and (maybe, hopefully) some new front office faces, but Rockets, er, I mean, Sixers Adam gave his educated opinion on the likelihood of each current Sixer staying or going!
Peace, Love and Process
Be kind to yourself, others, and call your parents.
