5 Big Questions About the State of the Eastern Conference
Zo goes Big on the East.
1. Is it the Celtics and then everyone else?
The Knicks made a big move in the name of perimeter defense and friendship, but I don’t think enough stock has been put into them losing Isaiah Hartenstein — who was a huge part of their second half and post season success and a real thorn in my ass in general. The Sixers’ success will depend exclusively on (stop me if this rings a bell) Joel Embiid’s health and how long it takes for this brand new roster to gel accordingly.
The Bucks have a ton of questions, Cleveland…eh, Miami just might not be deep enough, and that’s about it for how I feel. So yeah, it’s Boston until someone (please PG) changes my mind.
2. Who’s the early candidate for coach on the hot seat?
Not sure what the hell is going on out in Chicago, but I guess Billy Donovan? They literally can’t do anything else. I know they just hired his son as G-League coach, so who the fuck knows really. But sure, that’s my very early guess.
3. Are the Pacers for real?
Another pain in the ass. I’ll need to see it again before I say yes, but they’re starting to piss me off, so I’m trending toward yes eventually.
4. Your favorite for a fast-rising team?
Anybody picking any team other than the Magic is nuts. They are must-see TV and only getting better.
5. Who’s the non-Boston/NY team that will become your favorite Sixers opponent to hate?
The Raptors suck, but it’s still so fulfilling to kick their ass. That said, the Pacers are rising quickly in my go-to-hell rankings, so I’ll go with them.
If felt wrong to admit that beating Boston has become the #1 goal but now I feel the opposite. 76er fans should lean into it. Make it everything because it really is everything. If we won on a year Boston was injured or banged up it be shallow. No...we need to beat Boston and win a chip. That's the only way the Process fans get vindication. By beating Boston in a way that clearly demonstrates we are teh better team for this year.
